Some time ago, while I was first browsing through TpT I found a sea of resources for holidays. Easter, Christmas, Halloween, St. Patrick's Day and Valentines Day are heavily represented and well-prepared for. This seemed great- a variety of ideas and materials worth celebrating with!
When searching for Islamic holidays however I was shocked to find very few Ramadan and Eid-al-Fitr resources in the sea of holiday-related resources. As a teacher of a Muslim majority class I was a little sad as I want as much variety as possible in my classroom and to be as inclusive as possible to all my students! As Ramadan is set to start next week, I'm excited to celebrate with them every step of the way!
For this purpose I've created a variety of mathematics and ELA related resources to help celebrate! These have been fun to create and I'm hoping they brighten this holiday even more for students!
Today, I want to share a very cute color-by-code type activity that even I was excited to color! The colors are bright and cute and the result is adorable- well worth the hard work of solving the code and coloring it! It's suitable for practicing during the 30-day fasting season of Ramadan and also for celebrating duing Eid-al-Fitr which falls at the end of the fasting month.
These codes come with 6 different pictures, all of which I find completely adorable! I've created 4 versions of each practicing different skills.
The four versions are:
- -numbers 1-10
- -numbers 11-20
- -number sense 1-10
- -number sense 11-20
The number sense pictures basically use a variety of different objects and symbols to represent the numbers- including the written form, blocks, tally marks and stars. This allows a greater variety of practice and more opportunities to challenge your students!
These were incredibly fun to make and even more fun to color! I truly hope your students will enjoy these! Happy Teaching and Eid Mubarak!
